Bear Blogs
I only speak Dutch, English, and a bunch of programming languages, but fortunately, my browser (FF FTW) can translate texts from other languages. I typically like posts that people clearly put some effort into.
Deserves way more upvotes than they get.
Clearly puts a lot of effort into their writings. Gets few likes. The art of reading must be dying. Even on Bearblog.
YouTube channels
A very relaxing (if not sleep-inducing) voice, usually talking about Asia and Technology.
Older material is better. Favorite videos on the channel:
With a name like Dagogo Altraide, you'd expect them to become a career counselor (yes, that is a "Friends" reference), but they became a great content creator, instead.
Great quality. About computer technology. Watched the videos old-to-new. Interesting how little (!!) has changed since I worked my way through Andy Tanenbaum's books, 30+ years ago.
Most of the time, interesting. Sometimes, silly. Very easy to recognize content.
One thing I notice every time is how easily the guy seems to speak, but how much it sounds like he's "presenting" at the same time.
This channel addresses a wide variety of different subjects within science, and therefore, some videos are way more interesting (to me, at least) than others. What's constant is how well Savannah Geary hosts their episodes.
The setting is always the same, making the channel very recognizable. They have a nice sense of humor and manage to tell me stuff I did not already know, even on subjects I consider myself knowledgeable in.
The channel I've been subscribed to the longest, because it has the most consistently interesting content. Derek Muller is a great educator. Favorite videos on the channel:
YouTube videos
From the time when the law still mattered in the USA.
Col. Russell Williams — Brilliant police interrogation and confession
An interrogation the way it's (apparently) supposed to be done. A looong video, but worth it if you're into this kind of material.
Full Stephanie Lazarus Interrogation Video (Interview before arrest)
It's been a while since I watched this, but I still remember the suspense.
TIMELAPSE OF THE FUTURE: A Journey to the End of Time (4K)
When I had watched the entire movie, going all the way into the distant, distant future, the thought popped into my head was "Even that amount of time is still only a negligible fraction of eternity." That was a profound realization for me.
